NexusVoid vs Vanta: which fits an early-stage startup?
Comparison
Vanta and NexusVoid both help startups pass security reviews and audits, but they start from different places. Vanta is built around compliance and trust management. NexusVoid is built around running the security program itself, with compliance as the output. This page compares them using Vanta’s own website and press releases.
The short answer |
|---|
Vanta is a trust management platform that automates compliance evidence, security questionnaires, vendor reviews and a trust center across 35+ frameworks. NexusVoid is an autonomous CISO: it runs your security program, including attack surface and code scanning (Argus), compliance automation (Aegis) and pentesting (Striker), and produces SOC 2 or ISO 27001 evidence as a by-product. Vanta suits compliance-led teams that already have security staff. NexusVoid suits startups that need the security work done too. |

What is Vanta?
Vanta describes itself as a trust management platform. It collects evidence automatically and monitors controls continuously so you stay audit-ready. Its website says 16,000 businesses use it, from startups to enterprises.
Frameworks: 35+ according to its homepage, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, HITRUST, NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, CMMC, NIS2, DORA, the EU AI Act and FedRAMP, plus custom frameworks.
Vanta Agent: an AI agent Vanta calls a 24/7 GRC engineer, used to draft policies, complete questionnaires and flag issues.
Trust Center and questionnaires: a public trust page plus AI-powered questionnaire automation, with yearly allowances that differ by plan.
Vendor risk: vendor onboarding and security reviews in one place.
Devices and people: Vanta Device Monitor checks encryption, screen lock and antivirus, and security awareness training appears in its plan comparison.
Vulnerabilities: imports findings from connected scanners and tracks remediation against SLAs you set.
Vanta does a lot well. It is mature and widely adopted, its framework list is broad, and many auditors already know it.
What is NexusVoid?
NexusVoid is an autonomous CISO for startups. It runs the security program for you, finds and fixes real risk, and files the proof against your compliance controls as it goes. If you have no CISO, it acts as your CISO. If you have a CISO or vCISO, it automates most of their work.
Argus (application security posture management): starts outside-in like an attacker, with no credentials or installs needed to begin, then moves inward through code, dependencies, cloud and secrets. It covers SAST, SCA and secrets scanning; produces SBOM, AIBOM, CBOM and HBOM; maps findings to MITRE ATT&CK with attack paths; and prices risk in dollars using FAIR.
Aegis (compliance automation): SOC 2, ISO 27001, DPDP, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, NIST CSF, NIST AI RMF and the EU AI Act on shared controls, so one control serves many frameworks. It adds tailored policies, automatic evidence from cloud, GitHub, identity and devices, a risk register, vendor management, questionnaires answered from evidence, a trust center, a device agent, training and auditor-ready exports.
Striker (vulnerability assessment and pentest): pay per scan, 20+ tools, covering web, API, cloud and mobile, with a report in under 60 minutes.
Everything runs on one loop: Detect, Prove, Resolve, Test, Verify. Each finding gets an owner, a fix as a pull request plus a paste-ready prompt for coding assistants, and a retest on merge, then is filed as evidence against the right control.
What is the key difference between NexusVoid and Vanta?
The key difference is where each product starts. Vanta starts from the framework: it shows which controls you need, monitors whether they pass, and helps you prove that to auditors and buyers. Security testing is something it pulls in from your scanners or from partners.
NexusVoid starts from an attacker’s view of your company. It scans, tests and fixes first, and the compliance evidence comes out of that work. Both end with audit-ready evidence. The question is whether you already have people doing the security work.
Does Vanta include penetration testing?
Vanta’s plans and product pages focus on compliance, risk and trust workflows. For penetration testing it works with partners: its partner directory lists pentest firms, and in August 2025 it announced a partnership with XBOW to bring automated penetration testing into the platform for startups. It also imports vulnerability findings from connected scanners.
NexusVoid does the testing itself. Argus scans from the outside in, then through your code, dependencies and cloud. Striker runs pentests across web, API, cloud and mobile, priced per scan, with a report in under 60 minutes.
Either way, ask your auditor and largest prospects what kind of pentest they will accept. Some require an independent third-party report.
Which compliance frameworks do NexusVoid and Vanta support?
Vanta lists more frameworks, including several aimed at US government and regulated sectors, such as FedRAMP, CMMC, HITRUST and CJIS, and EU regimes such as NIS2 and DORA.
NexusVoid covers SOC 2, ISO 27001, DPDP, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, NIST CSF, NIST AI RMF and the EU AI Act. Both products map one control to many frameworks, so a second framework reuses most of the work from the first.
Is Vanta or NexusVoid better for an early-stage startup?
It depends on who will do the security work.
Choose NexusVoid if you have no CISO or security engineer, you need real testing as well as a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report, and you want fixes delivered as pull requests your engineers can merge.
Choose Vanta if someone on your team already owns security, you mainly need audit readiness and a trust center, and you are comfortable sourcing scanning and pentesting separately.
On NexusVoid, early-stage startups get Argus, Aegis and Striker. Growth and scale-stage startups get Your Autonomous CISO, the full 22-module program.
When Vanta is the better fit
You need a framework NexusVoid does not cover, such as FedRAMP, HITRUST, CMMC or DORA.
You already have a security team and scanners, and want a compliance and trust layer on top.
Your auditor already works in Vanta, or your buyers specifically ask for it.
You want a large, established vendor with a wide partner and auditor network.
How NexusVoid works alongside or instead of Vanta
Instead of Vanta: NexusVoid can replace a compliance tool plus separate scanners and pentest vendors. Aegis handles frameworks, evidence, policies, questionnaires and the trust center, while Argus and Striker do the testing that produces much of the evidence.
Alongside Vanta: if you are already on Vanta and happy with it, Argus and Striker can run next to it as your security testing layer. You keep Vanta for audit management and use NexusVoid to find, prove and fix the issues an attacker would actually use.
Frequently asked questions
Is NexusVoid a Vanta alternative?
Yes, for startups that want the security work done as well as the compliance. Aegis covers what most startups use Vanta for: frameworks, automatic evidence, policies, vendor management, questionnaires and a trust center. NexusVoid adds application security scanning (Argus) and pentesting (Striker). If you need FedRAMP, HITRUST or CMMC, Vanta covers frameworks NexusVoid does not.
Does Vanta do penetration testing?
Vanta’s own product pages focus on compliance, trust and risk. For penetration testing it works with partners listed in its partner directory, and in August 2025 it announced a partnership with XBOW for automated pentesting inside the platform. It also imports findings from vulnerability scanners and tracks remediation SLAs. Check with Vanta what your plan includes.
How much do Vanta and NexusVoid cost?
Neither publishes prices. As listed on its site in October 2026, Vanta offers Essentials, Plus, Professional and Enterprise tiers with personalized pricing on request. NexusVoid prices by company stage: early-stage startups get Argus, Aegis and Striker, and growth-stage startups get the full 22-module Your Autonomous CISO program. Striker pentests are pay per scan. Book a call for a quote.
Can I use NexusVoid and Vanta together?
Yes. Some teams keep Vanta for audit management and add NexusVoid’s Argus and Striker for security testing: outside-in attack surface scanning, code and cloud scanning, and on-demand pentests with fixes delivered as pull requests. If you later want one platform, Aegis covers compliance automation, so you can consolidate when your contract allows.
Which is better for SOC 2 at an early-stage startup?
Both can get you to a SOC 2 audit with automated evidence and policies. Vanta is a strong choice if someone already owns security. NexusVoid fits better with no CISO, because it also runs the testing, fixes issues through pull requests and files the proof. Neither guarantees an audit outcome: your auditor decides.
